For this match, I sat with the Flower City Stampede support group in Section 117. The group, which is in its first year of existence, is a great presence in Sahlen's Stadium, leading chants, waving flags, and singing tons of songs throughout the match. In the second half, I talked with Christian Damico, the founder of the Stampede about the group and the Rhinos. He told me that the group has been steadily growing this season and bringing great amounts of fun to the matches. He and the Stampede have also been loving that more and more people have been coming out to see a record setting Rhinos team. I was also pleased to discover that the Flower City Stampede have several members that are also students at Oswego State, one of my alma maters. Along with being the founder of the Stampede, Damico is the assistant coach of Oswego State Men's Soccer team, which have seen great improvement over the past few seasons. He told me this year the Lakers have a new stadium with artificial turf along with a state-of-the-art practice facility.
On a sticky Saturday evening, the Rochester Rhinos remained undefeated with a 0-0 draw against the Charlotte Independence. A mostly defensive minded match, both teams struggled to muster constant offense and put strong shots on goal. Brandon Miller had another fantastic game in net for Rochester, helping the Rhinos improve their league leading record of 11-0-7.
