Like in their first meeting, both teams came out strong in front of pro-Nationals crowd. After Canada opened the scoring, the Nationals would respond with two goals of their own from Johnny Powless and Jerome Thompson. After that, the teams would trade goals back and forth. Canada would gain the lead for good in the second quarter with a goal from Daniel Dawson, making the score 4-3 at the time. However, the Iroquois would not let their neighbors to the north run away like they did through most of the tournament. A hat trick from Randy Staats, two goals from Miles Thompson and Jeff Shattler would keep Canada's lead small, many times coming within a single goal. However, with time winding down in the game, the Canadians would take control with goals from Curtis Dickson and Shawn Evans to ice the Nationals and claim another championship.
After the game, the Canadians rejoiced with the trophy and gold medals. They also got some joy learning British Columbia would host the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. For the Iroquois, they would settle for the silver, but smile for the success they had as the host nation. Overall, it was a great game which marked an awesome conclusion to a remarkable tournament.
