To the surprise of many in the MASL, the Knights did the unthinkable and took down the Baltimore Blast in their home arena 7-2. Unlike Friday night, the Knights were clicking on all cylinders, especially on the defensive side of the ball. After Baltimore scored their second goal at the night 11:27 into the first quarter, the Knights shut out the Blast for the rest of the game. If you look at that in minutes, the Blast did not score for the remaining 48:33 of the match. Much of that shutout is credited to Bryan O'Quinn, who made save after save in several odd man and tricky situations.
On the offensive end of the ball, Kenardo Forbes made his case for Silver Knights MVP once again. Along with his two goals, Forbes helped set up huge scoring plays, getting assists on goals from Ubiparivpovic and Gonzalez. For Moises Gonzalez, he may have had the MASL Goal of the Year, scoring on a Bicycle Kick in the third quarter to put the Knights up by three. Jerjer Gibson also contributed two goals in the win, getting revenge on his former squad in a big way.
This win does a couple things for the Knights concerning the playoffs. First, and most importantly, it keeps them in the playoff race. Secondly, Baltimore has to wait to claim the East Division regular season title. They had a chance to clinch it with a win over the Silver Knights, but Syracuse would not allow that.
The Silver Knights and the Blast meet again in Syracuse on Friday night. That match is scheduled for 7:35pm. It is First Responders Night, which includes a pre-match game amongst First Responders and the Knights wearing special jerseys honoring firefighters, police, and and other responders. Then, the Knights end the regular season with a home match against Florida on Sunday. That match is set for 4:05pm. It is Irish Night, which means the Knights will be wear special Irish themed jerseys. Both the First Responders and Irish jerseys will be auctioned after the matches for charity. Come cheer on the Knights, they need you more than ever before.
